'Student
LifeNet is a national coalition of pro-life students, working together
to protect and defend human life from the moment of conception until
natural death.'
Our
mission is to be
an energetic, campaigning national network, at the forefront of student
politics, which unites students and drives forward high-profile, imaginative,
and persuasive campaigns, generating democratic, intellectually-honest
and informed public debate, in order to bring about a society where
'pro-life' is the dominant viewpoint and where the desire or pressure
to destroy human life is unthinkable.
Student
LifeNet
campaigns on matters which centre around a 'pro-life' philosophy.
This covers a range of issues including: abortion, abortifacients,
assisted suicide and euthanasia, human cloning, research on human
embryos and unborn babies, the welfare of pregnant women and mothers
and the threat posed to the embryo by reproductive technologies (e.g.
IVF & sex selection).
Student
LifeNet
also has an interest in closely related topics such as disability
rights, demographics, tackling racial discrimination, father's rights
and women's rights and welfare.
With
our mission statement in mind, Student
LifeNet has four ultimate goals:
1.
To help secure the right to life of all and make the 'pro-life'
philosophy the dominant viewpoint
2.
To unite all students in opposition to the destruction of human
life
3.
To ensure there is a pro-life society/group in every university
and secondary school in the United Kingdom
4.
To ensure there is real help and support for pregnant students.
- To
improve welfare support for pregnant and parenting students
-
To give stability and continuity to the student pro-life movement
by ensuring that pro-life groups survive students moving on
-
To give advice on setting up pro-life societies/groups within universities
and secondary schools.
-
To develop our website so that it becomes a central student resource.
-
To help in the organisation of events and campaigns.
-
To protect the right of pro-life students to be heard. In order
to improve maternity rights for students, freedom of speech is vital;
discussion must not be stifled by a prejudiced minority.
-
To create a supportive student network to facilitate the exchange
of ideas and experiences
-
To come up with imaginative ways to convey a positive pro-life message
-
To campaign for, and to express our opinion on legislation and judicial
decisions.
-
End the funding of abortion by schools, universities and other student
groups.
-
To foster leadership, strategic thinking, specialist academic and
campaigning skills.
-
To work with other respectable organisations with similar aims and
ensure that pro-life activism does not end at university.
