Student LifeNet also has a number of key advisors (such as in legal matters) who are not listed here.

We are constantly on the look out for committed and enthusiastic individuals to join our executive committee. No previous work in pro-life organisations is usually necessary, although a knowledge of life-related issues is expected. You must support our view that the right to life begins at conception - with no exceptions made, except where the mother's life is genuinely at risk.

General comments about committee roles

  • We encourage anyone at secondary school, in a gap year, at university, or those who have recently graduated to apply. No previous experience is necessary.
  • All of us have time constraints. Your task will only take up as much time as you wish.
  • We want to make use of your talents and for you to enjoy your time on the committee. Hence we allow most of our committee members a lot of freedom in their roles. You will even be allowed to undertake activities outside your normal remit if you wish.
  • Committee meetings are not very frequent. We normally aim for 3 to 4 a year. Most communication takes place via email or telephone.
  • All positions are voluntary. All expenses (including travel to meetings) are paid for.
  • Please do not let the formality of this page deter you - we are actually a very informal student organisation! We simply want to offer an idea of our professionalism.

Applying
Please send an email to our director: director@studentlifenet.co.uk outlining what you want to do and why. If you have any skills/qualifications which are useful please note these. A CV is not necessary but it may be attached if you feel it is useful.

We are currently looking for individuals for the following positions:
Welfare Officer (multiple applicants sought)
The role of welfare officer involves working on support for pregnant students and student parents. You would be given a lot of freedom in your role and would be encouraged to pursue your own tasks suitable to the position. In particular, welfare officers would focus on continually updating the welfare pages of our website, acting as a source of advice for students contacting us, and looking at ways individual universities should improve their welfare provision.

We ideally seek individuals who have some experience of being pregnant and/or bringing up children at university - but this isn't a precondition. We understand that if you're in this position you may have time constraints - hence we seek multiple applicants. You should be willing to learn, or know already, the basics of what state support is available to students.

If there is a position not listed here which you are interested in then still contact us - we can never have too many activists!
