ACT NOW!: HOWARD LEFT WITH EGG ON HIS FACE AFTER ANOTHER TORY SELL-OUT

It is important that we ACT NOW over Michael Howard's statement. If the Tories get away with it this time, then they will have no problem with continually speaking out in favour of embryo research, cloning, and abortion in the future.

Please contact Michael Howard:

On howardm@parliament.uk or click here for an email form or (better still) phone his office on 020 7219 5493 (constituents only) or 020 7219 5383 (non constituents only)

You can also write to him at Michael Howard MP, House of Commons, Westminster, London, SW1A 0AA.

Using our article for information, succinctly point out (in a non-offensive manner) some of these facts:

- You oppose embryo research and oppose his comments.

- Pro-life issues are a very important consideration to you when voting.

- His comments break traditional politics in Britain insofar that embryo research, abortion etc are normally matters of conscience - not party policy. Howard's comments should therefore be removed from the official Conservative Party website.

- Howard has humorously misunderstood Bush's statements on embryo research - a clear indication that he is simply jumping on the anti-Bush bandwagon.

- Moreover, Howard is out of step with the rest of his party. The majority of Tory MPs voted against embryo research. In a 2001 government bill named the 'Human Fertilisation and Embryology (Research Purposes) Regulations' (which allowed research on human embryos up to 14 days after fertilisation and allowed therapeutic cloning) 70 out of 131 Tory MPs voted AGAINST the bill. 46 voted for, and 15 abstained.

Thank you for your effort! Our website will keep you updated on this vital issue.
