STUDENT LIFENET BACKS NEW ABORTION CAMPAIGN - Press Releases

STUDENT LIFENET BACKS NEW ABORTION CAMPAIGN
Student LifeNet is backing the brand new 'Alive & Kicking' abortion campaign - due to be launched at the Labour Party Conference on Monday. It aims to reduce the number of abortions by half primarily through a reduction in the time limit, and by eliminating discriminatory abortions for disability.

'We are delighted to be part of a broad coalition supporting the dynamic Alive & Kicking campaign,' said Patrick Leahy, Director of Student LifeNet. 'This campaign, which has no comparable opposition, will be the biggest effort ever seen in defence of the baby before birth.

'There is now enormous pressure on parliament to re-examine the law. A survey, released at the launch on Monday, is set to reveal that almost two-thirds of MP would back a time-limit reduction. This comes shortly after a September YouGov poll found that the same proportion of the public would also back a reduction. With story after story in the media, how much longer can a review be delayed?

'In the interests of our fellow students, Student LifeNet will additionally be campaigning for a parental notification law. We look forward to presenting our case to both parliament and the public in the coming weeks and months'.
