STUDENTS OVERTURN WARWICK PRO-ABORTION POLICY
Warwick University students have defeated their Student Union’s pro-abortion policy in a referendum. 2845 students voted on the motion ‘This Union will take No Stance on the issue of abortion’ with 50% of students voting in favour, 34% against, and 16% abstaining.
‘This is a tremendous victory for pro-life students and for common sense,’ said Patrick Leahy, Director of Student LifeNet.
‘Numerous opinion polls now show that young people overwhelmingly reject the pro-choice position of abortion up-to-birth and want to see a lowering of the abortion time limit.
‘There is now enormous pressure on the handful of remaining institutions to drop their own pro-abortion policies.
‘Instead of lecturing their students about what political policy they should or should not support, Student Unions should focus on their intended remit: to care for, and advance, the welfare of its diverse student population’
